Monthax is an industrial world in the Thaxis system, on the rim of the Duchy of Insmother. It lives on scrap. Hulls are stripped at Monthax Breakers in orbit, then brought down to the smelters and sorting yards of Slagport. The recovered metal goes to Weltharrow along the scrap run.
Generations of smelting have left the air toxic, and most people wear filters outdoors.
Monthax is the Duchy's closest world to Vesk Imperial Space; the Vesk listening post at Watchspire Kessit is a short crossing away. Ducal authority is thin here, and much of what passes through the breaker yards is never recorded.
